MTV: We Don’t Like Mac Users

Adam Curry was right….MTV SUCKS. I got this great error message when I tried to view content on MTV.com. How can you leave out a large segment of computer users?

“We’re Sorry.

In order to offer a broad selection of full-length music videos on-demand and free of charge, MTV Overdrive uses Windows Digital Rights Management (DRM) to protect videos from unauthorized re-distribution.

Unfortunately, Microsoft’s Windows Media Player Plug-in for Macintosh does not support Windows DRM. If DRM support becomes available for Macintosh, MTV will develop a version of MTV Overdrive that works on a Mac.”

I guess I don’t need to pay to have your station on my tv then or buy any of the products shown on your station. Excercising my right as a consumer, I am.

  1. I can’t believe what a crock of crap this is. I don’t know how lame mtv has gotten, but I know is microsoft doesn’t have any incentive to offer their shit service (which my friend who I convinced to switch from her pc wants) to mac users. I guess the only incentive would be to be a friendly player in the media game, which, of course doesn’t seem to be there strong suit. sad. it will all be better when longhorn flops on its ass and people switch in droves. so fucking lame mtv and m$ be.

  2. Yes MTV sucks and a lot. It´s unbelievable but it´s just a sign that the network is on real decadence. I don`t care since they are not a music reference for me anymore. I´m happy to know i´ll see them die before too long.
