Tony Roma’s restaurant in Modesto closes its doors

Today is a sad, sad day America. After 16 years Tony Roma’s, the best if not the only, place to get good ribs in the Central Valley has closed citing a down economy and problems with the chain.

The Modesto Bee: “The Tony Roma’s restaurant in Modesto has closed after 16 years.

Owner Chris Hodges said in an e-mail that both the down economy and problems with Tony Roma’s as a chain were to blame.

The restaurant, which had 41 employees, was at 2100 Standiford Ave. Sunday was the last day of operation, and Hodges said in the e-mail that all employees were paid through that day.

Tony Roma’s opened in Modesto in 1992, and became popular nationwide with a menu centered around ribs, seafood and steaks.”

It’s official. This town now tops the crappiest towns list for all the U.S. Buh bye Carolina Honeys and the Rib Sampler 🙁
