Chrome or Chromium

Ok so you have an Ubuntu machine, a netbook or maybe you got gutsy and installed it on an old piece of crap Dell like I did, but you got used to using Chrome on your Windows machine and Mac. Ok, well you can use Chromium, the open source version of Google’s Chrome or you can just go get Google’s Chrome for Linux.

Yes, it does seem odd that there’d be two versions of the same browser for the same operating system but they’re not completely identical. Chrome has a few added features (built in Flash plugin, themes and extensions) and enhancements that Chromium doesn’t. Chrome also feels more stable in my opinion too.

Give it a try. No matter what operating system you’re using once you start using the single search/address field in Chrome you’ll never go back to another browser. It’s just too intuitive.
