It’s a Brand New World

I use one browser on all my computers. It doesn’t matter that one is running OS X, one is WindowsXP, and one is Linux. It still works, looks, and feels the same.

I use one bit torrent client on all my computers. It doesn’t matter that one is running OS X, one is WindowsXP, and one is Linux. It still works, looks, and feels the same.

I think many people don’t realize what’s happened (and is happening). For the first time in the existence of the personal computer, we’ve achieved true platform portability.

It doesn’t matter what operating system you’re running. These programs look and function the same on them all. All the plugins I use on my Windows PC work just fine on my Linux machine and similarly on my Mac.

Oh sure, for years Microsoft ported their popular Office suite to Apple’s Mac OS but the only similarity the programs bear to one another is in name. The Mac version of Office looks and operates like Office for Windows bastard half brother. (Can we get a DNA test here?)

Welcome to the New Millenium. Are you excited?
