Sometimes WiFi just won’t do

No matter how much I like being able to walk around my house unencumbered by the wires connecting me to the internet, there are times when you just have to plug back in. Like when you’ve had to reimage your laptop’s hard drive with WinXP after only 2 months and you’re having to download every service pack and update over the last 3 years. Still doing Service Pack 1 as we speak. Only 10 zillion more service packs to go.

  1. As much as helped make you feel better — you’re service packs won’t download any faster over a wired ethernet connection than they will over your wireless one.

Your DSL is what, maybe 384 Kbps? Your wireless network is probably running at about 8 or 9 Mbps?
